PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture recorder capable of recording high density picture information easily. SOLUTION: The picture recorder is provided with a picture input means 2 for inputting picture information, a picture reduction means 3 for generating low density picture information from picture information inputted from the means 2, the first recording medium 4 and the second recording medium 5, the first picture recording means 6 for recording the high-density picture information before being reduced in the medium 4 as a high-density picture file and the second picture recording means 7 for recording the low-density picture information reduced by the means 3 in the medium 4 as a low-density picture file. Related information concerning the high-density picture information and the low-density picture information is recorded in the second medium 5 within the difference between the recording the high density picture information and that of the low density picture information. Related information is provided with link information of the high density picture information and the low density picture information.
