PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device with an electronic camera, in which a camera function can operate surely. SOLUTION: In the recording and reproducing device consisting of a recording and reproducing device main body part for reproducing a music video recording medium mounted exchangeably and a camera part attachable to and detachable from the main body part and capable of photographing an image and recording the photographed image in a recording medium, the camera part 22 is provided with an imaging device 24 and an auxiliary battery 27, and the main body part 21 is provided with a DRAM 38, an image processing part 39 and a main CPU 44 for recording the photographed image from the electronic camera part in the recording medium, a main battery 34 being the power source of a main body part when the camera part is separated, a remainder detection part 35 for detecting the remainders of both of the battery, a switching part 33 for selecting the battery of a larger remainder in the case of a camera mode when the camera part is mounted and selecting the main battery in the case of a reproducing mode, and a power source part 36 for supplying power supplied from the battery selected by the switching part to the camera part.
