PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect the secrecy of image data read by an image reader in an image processing system that inputs the image data from the image reader for reading the image data of an original to an image processor and processes the image data. SOLUTION: The image reader reads the image data of the original (S1), and when a password is set in the image data, the image data and the password are inputted to the image processor (S2 and S3), and stored in the HDD of the processor to be made correspond to each other (S4). When a host computer subsequently inputs a password together with an instruction to output the image data to the image processor (S5), the image processor decides whether or not the password is matched with the password stored in the HDD (S6), and the image data stored to be made correspond to the password in the HDD is outputted to the host computer (S7) when they are matched with each other.
