PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for an electric part capable of surely holding the electric part in a prescribed position by preventing parting of the electric part by a latch member. SOLUTION: In an IC socket 11, a socket body 13 for housing an IC package is provided with a contact pin capable of contacting with and separating from a solder ball of the IC package, and the socket body 13 is provided with the latch member 38 for pressing down the IC package. The latch member 38 is constituted so as to press down a corner part in the diagonal line direction of the quadrangular IC package.
