SOLUTION: A portable terminal such as portable telephone terminal or a PHS terminal is used as an authenticating means of the settlement system. Namely, authentication is carried out through the use of the manufacture number and the telephone number of the portable terminal and a user's password. A payment is made by withdrawing from an account, similar to the payment of communication charge.
