PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device that can support either a I2C (Inter-IC) serial interface or an SPI(Serial Peripheral Interface) without the use of an additional interface selection pin and to provide a method for data communication. SOLUTION: The device is configured to select between the two interface protocols of the I2C, SPI interfaces and defaults using either of the interface protocols and automatically selects the other interface protocol depending on a state of a clock enable signal.
