The invention relates to a method whereby, following a preliminary exchange established between a vendor and a purchaser with a view to carrying out a transaction corresponding to the payment of an amount for a service provided by the vendor, the subsequent exchanges of information only take place between the purchaser and a payment server (T). The purchaser sends said server information (1) comprising data relating to the vendor and the amount. The server authenticates the vendor's identifier (I1) using information received and, in response, said server sends a message (2) to the purchaser ordering payment of said amount. The message contains at least the amount and the vendor's identifier (I1). In response, the purchaser sends confidential information (3) to the server enabling the payment of said amount, after the purchaser has verified the vendor's identifier (I1).
