PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IC socket which is applicable to a change in type of an IC package to be inspected, if different in type, simply by giving 180 deg. rotation to a movable plate and capable of preventing damages to the IC package or others, when it is mounted, by suppressing the excess rotation or reverse of the movable plate in an always stable condition. SOLUTION: The IC socket 1 comprises a socket board 10 for supporting a contact 40, a press cover 20 having an opening window 22 at its central portion, mounted on the socket board 1, in such a manner as to be freely pressed, the movable plate 30 turnably mounted on the opening window 22 of the press cover 20 via a shaft 21 for putting the IC package in press contact with the contact 40, and a rotation-preventing mechanism containing a stopper 50 movable forward/backward to/from the movable plate 30 for suppressing the rotation of the movable plate 30.
