PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time required for aging without damaging a phosphor in an aging method for an AC plasma display panel of three-electrode structure. SOLUTION: Surface discharge is caused between a pair of surface discharge electrode groups comprising an X-electrode group having common electrodes X1, X2,...XN and a Y-electrode group having scanning electrodes Y1, Y2...YN to perform aging for a specified time. Then, a facing discharge is caused between an address electrode group comprising data electrodes A1, A2...AM and a1, a2...aM and the pair of surface discharge electrode groups to perform aging.
