PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an organic EL element of a high definition multicolor display having a light emitting layer of different light emitting colors on the same substrate by a simple method. SOLUTION: An electrode 2 is formed on the substrate 1. A positively electrifying electrification layer 3 is formed by selectively imparting a liquid electrifying material to a desired position by an ink jet method. The substrate is soaked in an electrolyte 4, and an organic compound becoming an anion in the electrolyte 4 is sucked in the electrification layer 3 to form an organic compound layer 5. Next, the substrate is soaked in an electrolyte 6, an organic compount becoming a cation in the electrolyte 6 is sucked in the organic compound layer 5, an organic compound layer 8 is formed by strictly controlling the film thickness by repeating the operation, and an electrode 9 is formed on this organic compound layer 8.
