METHOD FOR REPRODUCING FAULT FOR INSPECTING ERROR RECOVERY ALGORITHM OF HARD DISK DRIVE

PURPOSE: A method for reproducing a fault for inspecting an error recovery algorithm of a hard disk drive is provided to reproduce a fault injector function capable of generating various error states using a firmware without constituting an additional hardware in a hard disk drive. CONSTITUTION: A data recording mode is setup by responding to a data recording command being received from a host computer(60). An off-track critical value less than a normal off-track critical value is initially set(62) and data are recorded in a disk(64). Whenever a data recording fault is generated(66), an error recovery algorithm is executed(70). An off-track critical value is set(72) and the data are recorded. A data reading mode is setup by responding to a data reading command being received from a host computer. Data recorded on a disk are read. When data are read, a reading channel factor is changed and a data reading error is generated.
