PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the generation of apparatus operation input information based on an indication on a display screen. SOLUTION: The picked-up image data of a display screen area of an enlarged display device 200 picked up by CCD 303 of an electronic camera 300 is captured from a camera controller 304 and stored in a picked-up image area 102b of a main memory 102. The displayed image data of a displayed image area 102a is compared with the picked-up image data of the picked-up image area 102b to recognize an image data for a difference between them as an image indicated by an indicator or a laser pointer. The contents of the indicated image are analyzed, the same apparatus operation input information as an indicated input from a keyboard (pointing device) 107, and information processing is performed in accordance with the apparatus operation input information.
