CODE CONVERTING METHOD FOR SUPPORTING IMAGE CONVERSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide code conversion of a compressed image. SOLUTION: Code conversion includes a process (320) decoding the differential pulse code modulation DC frequency component of a plurality of image blocks and splitting the image into a plurality of image cells. The code conversion re-codes (303) the differential pulse code modulation DC frequency component of the image blocks. The code conversion extracts a HUFFMAN table from image data and stores it (304). The code conversion identifies the image blocks (305) based on a block count and re-codes them (306) to corresponding image cells. Pseudo random access to data enabling efficient image conversion is realized by the code conversion. In many cases, picture elements can be coded only once through the whole image conversion process by employing this system. This code conversion enables image conversion in a printer having no sufficient memory capacity to store expanded images.
