PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability for deflection precision, noise, acoustic life, rigidity and the like of a spindle motor and reduce a manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: In the shaft-fixed spindle motor 1 vertically providing a fixed shaft 10 on a base 2 and rotatably supporting a rotor hub 3 through a bearing on the fixed shaft, the bearing comprises a composite ball bearing 4, the large diameter part 8a of a stepped top-like connection member 8 having the large diameter part 8a and the small diameter part 8b is fitted to the upper end of the outer ring 5 of the composite ball bearing 4, and the small diameter part 8b of the connection member 8 is fixed on the rotor hub 3. In the shaft rotating spindle motor 1 vertically providing a rotary shaft 20 on the rotor hub 3 and rotatably supporting the rotary shaft 20 through the bearing on the base 2, the bearing comprises the composite ball bearing 4, the large diameter part 8a of the stepped top-like connection member 8 having the large diameter part 8a and the small diameter part 8b is fitted to the lower end of the outer ring 5 of the composite ball bearing 4, and the small diameter part 8b of the connection member 8 is fixed on the base 2. |
