PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline battery of high performance and high capacity, having high energy density, and inhibiting and preventing the rise of internal pressure caused by the generation of a gas. SOLUTION: In this alkaline battery having a positive electrode 2 containing iron acid (VI) salt as an electrode active material, a negative electrode 4 mounted oppositely to the positive electrode 2, and including non-amalgamated zinc alloy powder as an electrode active material, a separator 3 for separating the negative electrode 4 and the positive electrode 1, and an alkali electrolyte supported at least on the separator, the negative electrode 4 contains a gelling agent for gelling the alkali electrolyte, and contains at least one kind of anticorrosives selected from oxide, hydroxide and sulfide of indium or bismuth by 0.01-1.0 mass % by conversion of indium or bismuth metal to the negative electrode active material. |
