PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the charge and discharge cycle property under high temperature environment in an alkaline battery using a nickel electrode as a positive electrode, for the alkaline battery prepared by coating a conductive core body with the paste containing active material particles composed of nickel hydroxide, and drying the same. SOLUTION: In this nickel electrode 1 for the alkaline battery manufactured by coating the conductive core body with the paste containing the active material particles composed of nickel hydroxide, and drying the same, a conductive agent composed of cobalt or its compound is added or applied onto surfaces of the active material particles, further the powder of tantalum or its compound is added, and the nickel electrode for the alkaline battery is used as the positive electrode of the alkaline battery. |
