PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a block boundary violation detecting method and an apparatus therefor, which prevent an abnormal recording by detecting non-coincidence between an encoding block and an ECC(Error Correction Code) block on a disk. SOLUTION: The method for recording data, which are encoded in a recordable disk where a block address is recorded, is characterized by including a process (a) for generating a block boundary signal which indicates the boundary of the ECC block through the use of block address information previously recorded on the disk and a process (b) for detecting a phase difference between the block boundary signal and an encoding block synchronizing signal and detecting presence of a violation in the boundary by the largeness of the detected phase difference. Thereby, data can be normally recorded by performing comparison in phase between the front position of the encoding block and the boundary position of the ECC block on the disk and judging whether normal recording is possible or not.
