PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline battery of high reliability in quality of a product while improving the strength of a molding mix without reducing the electrolyte absorption amount. SOLUTION: As a positive electrode mixture of an alkaline battery prepared by adding electrolytic manganese dioxide, graphite as a conductive agent and a caustic potash electrolyte as a kneading liquid to which a polyolefin resin having a melt flow rate of 25-100 g/10 min is added as a hydrophobic binder, is used, the strength of the positive electrode molding mixture can be improved without impairing an intermediate load discharge characteristic, and the alkaline battery of high reliability in quality of a product can be provided without reducing the electrolyte absorbing amount in the battery.
