PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser diode device that can appropriately discriminate the deterioration of a laser diode with a simple constitution without being influenced by temperatures, and to provide an optical disk device using the diode device. SOLUTION: In the laser diode device 100, a resistor 108 and a diode 107 connected in series with the resistor 108 are provided in a laser diode section 101 having a laser diode 105 and a back monitor 106 which detects the light quantity of the diode 105. A controller 103 supplies a constant current or constant voltage, and the temperature detecting voltage corresponding to the temperature in the vicinity of the laser diode 105 is outputted to an auto-power control 104. When the temperature detecting voltage exceeds a prescribed reference voltage, the control 104 stops the drive of the laser diode 105 by means of a driver 102 through the controller 103. Therefore, the laser diode 105 can be protected from deterioration and breakage by accurately detecting the temperature of the diode 105. |
