PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that, on an information processing apparatus of a type having a floppy (registered trademark) disk controller built in, a user can not set a starting drive as the user wishes. SOLUTION: By the setting of BIOS, whether FDD200 of a type that uses FDC19 is to be used as the starting drive or FDD of a type that does not use FDC19 is to be used as the starting drive is selected and the setting is made so. At the start-up of the information processing apparatus, the starting drive setting is made on the basis of the selected setting stored in RTC26.
