PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic detector for paper sheets capable of contributing to reducing troubles in high-speed feed and detecting magnetic substances and conductors at the same time, while requiring only a small space for installation. SOLUTION: A detecting magnetic head 2 includes a core 3 with a magnetic gap Ga opposed to securities 1 serving as the subject of detection including magnetic substances and conductors, and a primary winding 4 and a secondary winding 5 both of which are wound on the core 3. A correcting magnetic head 6 is disposed near the detecting magnetic head 2 and includes a core 7 with a magnetic gap Gb, and a primary winding 8 and a secondary winding 9 both of which are wound on the core 7. An AC power generating part 10 energizes the primary windings 4 and 8 of the magnetic heads 2 and 6 with two kinds of alternating currents of different frequencies. A signal processing circuit 11 processes output signals obtained from the secondary windings 5 and 9 of the magnetic heads 2 and 6, by separating the signals into two kinds of frequencies, and thus respectively obtains detection signals of the magnetic substances and conductors contained in the securities 1.
