PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a colored resin particle which is stably dispersed in a nonaqueous solvent, not flocculated and has excellent redispersibility. SOLUTION: This method for producing the colored resin particle is characterized in that (i) an additive containing a colorant component and a resin component is added to an aqueous solvent (X), then (ii) in a nonaqueous solvent (Y) incompatible with the aqueous solvent (X), a monomer which is soluble in the nonaqueous solvent (Y) but is insolubilized by polymerization in the presence of a block or graft copolymer which is insoluble in the nonaqueous solvent (Y) and has self dispersibility is polymerized to give a resin particle (P) dispersed in the nonaqueous solvent (Y) and (iii) the resin particle (P) is added to a system obtained by the process (i), liquid drops containing the colorant component and the resin component are formed in the nonaqueous solvent (Y) and the aqueous solvent (X) is removed to produce the colored resin particle.
