Measuring insert for a fluid volume flowmeter has a beaker shaped housing (26, 28) with an impeller (78) mounted on an axle (42) that is fixed in a bearing plate (26) that forms the bottom of the beaker housing. Second bearing plate forms a cover to the beaker. An inlet in the housing wall and an outlet (34) in the base are provided. The meter current enters via an inlet recess (54) and is directed towards an area within the insert that is outside the rotation area of the impeller. The invention also relates to a corresponding measurement method.
