PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving a preamble in a mobile communication system is provided to transmit and receive the preamble for designating a packet data receiver in the mobile communication system for simultaneously servicing voices and data. CONSTITUTION: A modulator(203) modulates packet data receiver indication information having the previously set first size and outputs an I signal and a Q signal having symbols with the number of same times. The first spreader(204) spreads the I signal according to one orthogonal code among orthogonal codes with the number of times set according to packet data transmission auxiliary information having the previously set second size. The second spreader(205) spreads the Q signal according to one orthogonal code among orthogonal codes with the number of times set according to packet data transmission auxiliary information.
