PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve filtration effect for cleaning petroleum fuel while suppressing sucking of air into an oiling pump through a filter. SOLUTION: A petroleum fuel combustion apparatus is adapted to include an oil tank 3 in which a petroleum fuel 1 is stored; an oiling pump 5 for sucking the petroleum fuel 1 in the oil tank 3 to supply the fuel to a burner 8; a hollow cylindrical suction joint 5A having a suction inlet 5B provided in the oiling pump 5; and a bottomed cylindrical filter 6 mounted on a tip end of the suction joint 5A so as to cover the suction inlet 5B in the suction joint 5A with its peripheral surface possessing a suction opening 6C covered with a filter mesh 6a. In the combustion apparatus, the suction joint 5A is adapted to include the foregoing suction inlet 5B provided at a lower end of a peripheral wall of a tip end thereof, the suction inlet 5B including a joint side filter mesh 5C provided thereover.
