PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber grating having improved the polarization dependency (PDL) of insert loss in a ultraviolet induced optical fiber grating. SOLUTION: A light beam with a specified wavelength is irradiated at specified intervals along the longitudinal direction of a optical fiber 3 from the side of an optical fiber 3 having a portion formed of a material with a refractive index increased by the irradiation of a light beam with a specified wavelength so as to increase the refractive index of a irradiated portion. Thereby, the optical fiber grating in which a refractive index increased part 3a have a plurality of grating parts intermittently arranged at the specified intervals, is manufactured. In this method, the optical fiber grating is manufactured by evenly irradiating the circumferential direction of the optical fiber 3 with the light beam, and forming the refractive index increased part 3a. |
