PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an electric power steering unit having a current limit function for monitoring any failure of an intermediate offset and drift out of signal troubles of a torque sensor and limiting an assist function. SOLUTION: In the control device of the electric power steering unit for controlling a motor based on a current control value operated from an auxiliary steering instruction value operated by an operating means based on steering torque generated in a steering shaft and from a current value in the motor for giving auxiliary steering power to a steering mechanism, the difference between a main torque signal and a sub torque signal of the torque sensor for detecting the steering torque is stored in advance, the difference between the main torque signal and the sub torque signal during the operation is compared with the stored value, and at least a motor current output is stopped if a state that the difference in the comparison is different from a second predetermined value larger than a first predetermined value continues for a time shorter than a predetermined time. |
