PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make stable image display without causing particles to move unnecessarily and without entailing degradation in contrast by regulating the potential acting on an electrode substrate, even in the state of not moving toners and the particles in image display. SOLUTION: This image display medium has a display substrate, which is arranged on an image display surface side and is formed with first electrodes; a non-display substrate which faces the display substrate and is formed with second electrodes; voltage-impressing means which impresses a prescribed voltage between the first electrodes and the second electrodes; plural kinds of particle groups which are sealed between the display substrate and the non-display substrate and are movable between the first electrodes; and the second electrodes by the electric fields generated by the voltage impressed by the voltage- impressing means and charge holding means which holds the charges, corresponding to the prescribed display images accumulated in the first electrodes or the second electrodes, when impressed with the voltage by the voltage impressing means.
