PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable unit which can house a large number of fiber ribbons without using a spacer equipped with a spiral groove, and to provide an optical fiber cable using the same. SOLUTION: The optical fiber cable unit having a cable unit core 4 in which a fiber ribbon stacked body and at least one sheet of masking tape 3 longitudinally attached around the circumference along a longitudinal direction are twisted in one direction or SZ directions, and a coated protection sheath 5 outside the cable unit core, and the optical fiber cable using the optical cable unit.
