PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rainfall intensity detector capable of measuring the amount of rainfall in either case of 0.5 mm or less and 100 mm or more. SOLUTION: The weight of a water receiver 9 receiving rainwater falling on a fixed area is measured by a gravimetric device 11. Inside the water receiver 9, upper and lower float stoppers 31, 33 can be integrally elevated through a vertical space along a guide body 29 vertically extended between an upper frame 27 at the upper part and a bottom face 17 of the water receiver 9. A float 41 exists between the upper and lower float stoppers 31, 33. The float 41 moves up with an increase in the mount of rainwater and moves up integrally with the upper float stopper 31 by the attraction of a first magnet 49 and a second magnet 51. When a third magnet 53 is attracted to a fourth magnet 55 of the upper frame 27, a drain valve 19 at the bottom face 17 of the water receiver 9 is opened to drain rainwater at a stroke. The amount of rainwater based on the lapse of time is computed from time measured by a timer 57 for measuring rainfall time, and weight measured by the gravimetric device 11.
