PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the operation of a lens barrel and to miniaturize the lens barrel. SOLUTION: In this lens barrel, a 1st lens group positioned nearest to an object side is moved in an optical axis direction by a 1st cam formed on a cam barrel so as to set a plurality of zoom steps and also a focus area where focusing at each zoom step is performed is formed on the 1st cam. A lift amount in the optical axis direction in the focus area at a telephoto end step on the 1st cam is smaller than that in the focus area at other zoom step.
