The procedure uses a mobile head (3) with a series of gripping needles (13) or vanes that are inserted into a cell (1) of a plant or seedling growing tray to grip and lift a truncated pyramidal or conical root block to transfer it to a planting location. Prior to insertion, the needles are positioned over the cell and lowered so their tips are centred on the cell. After insertion, the tips of the needles are brought towards one another by a guide (9), allowing the root block to be lifted on a mobile support (12) by a hydraulic power cylinder (8) and transferred to the new location.
|
