PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drinking water heater having an automatic cleaning function of a dirt due to a deposit or the like of a heating container relating part in the built-in water heater in a kitchen. SOLUTION: The water heater comprises a housing 10 of a kitchen unit, an opening/closing water supply means 13 of a water channel, a water supply route 14, a body 16, a water reservoir 17 in the body 16, a heating means 18 for heating water, a temperature sensing means 19 for sensing a water temperature, a hot water output route 20 for guiding hot water in the reservoir 17 to an exterior, a hot water output means 21 for communicating with a midway of the hot water output route, a water cock 25 mounted on an upper surface of the housing 10, a hot water output port 27 provided at the cock, a steam route 28 for communicating with the exterior through an air layer of an upper part of the reservoir 17, and a control means 31 for controlling the means 13, the means 18, the means 21 and the like according to a signal from the mean 19 or the like and programming an automatic cleaning function.
