The invention relates to a method for the production of nucleic acids, in particular superspiral nucleic acids. The cultivation of the transformed bacterial cells to give a high cell density is preferably carried out in a batch process, in a given, synthetic aqueous medium, containing no complex components or components obtained from animals. The nucleic acids isolated from the bacterial cells and purified are suitable for use in non-viral gene therapy, cell therapy or genetic inoculation.
