HIGHLY EFFICIENT FLUORESCENT SUBSTANCE

PURPOSE: A highly efficient fluorescent substance and a light source are provided, wherein the fluorescent substance emits the yellow light effectively in a range of 370-430 nm and is used to emit the white light of high quality together with other blue light and red light emitting fluorescent substances. CONSTITUTION: The fluorescent substance is a silicide nitride-based material, wherein Sr is used as a cation and the silicide nitride is coated with trivalent Ce. Preferably the fluorescent substance is represented by the formula Sr2Si5N8:Ce¬3+ or SrSi7N10:Ce3+. The ratio of Ce is 1-10 mol% of the content of Sr; and some of Sr can be replaced by Ba and/or Ca to 30 mol%.
