PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element for preventing light leakage from a backlight by using a black mask composed of a resin material and for maintaining strength of sealing of a sealing material, to make stick two sheets of transparent substrates constituting the liquid crystal display element stick together against external stress. SOLUTION: The black mask 4 composed of the frame shaped resin material is arranged on a non-display region 6 inside one transparent substrate 3a out of the two sheets of the transparent substrates 3a, 3b constituting a liquid crystal display element 1. At the positions of the black mask 4 corresponding to the sealing material 7, opening parts 12, which make the inside surface of the transparent substrate 3a exposed, are formed. |
