PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tread pattern of a pneumatic tire for an automobile to allow riding comfort, excellent marginal steering stability and anti-wear performance during a circuit run while enhancing wet road driving performance in an ordinary road. SOLUTION: The tread pattern of a pneumatic tire for an automobile has two circumferential direction grooves extending in the circumferential direction of the tire, three rows of ribs demarcated by the circumferential direction grooves, and descriptions indicating inside and/or outside of the tire when mounted, with the outside rib of the tire when mounted being 35 to 45 percent in width of the grounding surface of the tire, the middle rib being decreased in width to 25 to 35 percent and the inside rib being further decreased to 15 to 25 percent, with the outside circumferential direction groove of the tire when mounted being wider than the inside circumferential direction groove, and with the area ratio of the groove to the grounding surface of the tire ranging from 20 to 35 percent along with expansion and contraction of the groove width. |
