METHOD FOR PRODUCING VINYL CHLORIDE POLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the production of a vinyl chloride polymer causing little initial discoloration and having low static charge accumulation while preventing the corrosion of the apparatuses used in the production method. SOLUTION: A vinyl chloride polymer is produced by polymerizing vinyl chloride or a mixture of vinyl chloride and a monomer copolymerizable therewith in an aqueous medium. In the above method, the pH of the polymer slurry is adjusted to 5-10 by adding 0.005-0.2 pt.wt. of an alkali metal salt of a polybasic carboxylic acid as a neutralizing agent to the obtained polymer slurry based on 100 pts.wt. of the vinyl chloride or the monomer mixture containing the same.
