A debris separating system 100 for separating debris in a fish tank 10 is formed by a standpipe (102 fig 3) extending up through the bottom of the tank at the centre of the tank and terminating in an open end. A cover (112 fig 3) covers the opening and is spaced therefrom to provide an inlet opening (116 fig 3) positioned above the bottom of the tank. A transition zone 30 is formed att the bottom of the tank surrounding the standpipe (102 fig 3) and a debris outlet (122 fig 3) is provided from this zone through the bottom of the tank for removal of debris separated in the transition zone 30. Cleaned water from the transition zone 30 flows up around the standpipe, through the inlet opening (116 fig 3) and into the standpipe (102 fig 3) for removal from the tank. |
