The pressure equaliser is used to measure the pressures of dangerous or corrosive fluids. The dangerous fluid is separated from a neutral fluid by a twin chamber arrangement which permits compensation for any leakage of the neutral fluid. A cylindrical casing (1) contains a piston (2) which acts as a separation wall for two chambers (3,4). These are filled with different fluids and have different volumes depending on the position of the piston. Both chambers are connected to service circuits containing hydraulic fluid. The circuit for the first chamber (3) is connected to a pressure measuring cell and to a leakage compensation supply (10). The service circuit for the second chamber (4) is connected to a constant pressure source acting as a reference pressure.
