PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment-based ink for ink jet recording having its electroconductivity adjusted to a specific value, which hardly causes clogging in a head part and is excellent in ejection reliability. SOLUTION: The water-based ink for ink jet recording comprises a pigment and has an electroconductivity of 0.1-5.0 mS/cm and contains an aliphatic triol and an aliphatic diol in a weight ratio of 50/1 to 1/50.
