PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder having a stable recovery means which makes a waste ink efficiently absorbed to a waste ink-holding means, prevents waste ink discharge openings from being clogged by ink, and can maintain the discharge recovery performance. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder 1 has a recording means 3 with a plurality of nozzles and nozzle arrays for jetting ink from discharge openings 49, a carriage 2 which reciprocates with the recording means 3 loaded thereto, the recovery means for recovering or maintaining a discharge state of ink from the discharge openings 49, and the waste ink-holding means which absorbs the ink discharged by the recovery means and holds the ink not to flow into the apparatus. The discharge opening 54 for a pigment waste ink and the discharge opening 55 for a dye waste ink are arranged to be adjacent to each other, so that the waste inks are mixed. Accordingly, a pigment-based sticking sediment can be decomposed or can be suppressed not to stick and pile. |
