PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas heat pump type air conditioner which is constituted to promote energy conservation even when the air conditioner is operated at a low speed (under a low load) at (under) which the efficiency of a gas engine drops. SOLUTION: This gas heat pump type air conditioner forms a refrigerating cycle by circulating a refrigerant by means of a compressor 15 which is driven by means of a gas engine 14. In the air conditioner, an electric motor 16 is provided as the low-speed driving source of the compressor 15 and, in addition, a driving source switching means which selectively switches the driving source of the compressor 15 between the gas engine 14 and motor 16 in accordance with the operating speed of the compressor 15 is provided.
