PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for printing on a continuous paper capable of printing images and marks at a high speed on the continuous paper without deteriorating printing quality, and a printing device. SOLUTION: This printing device is provided with a paper feeding mechanism 5 for feeding a continuous paper A, a head unit 21 mounted with an ink jet head 22, an X/Y moving mechanism 23 for moving the head unit 21 in the main-scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction, and a control means 7. The control means 7 prints an image B on the continuous paper A which is made to stop running on a paper feed passage 4 by executing the main- scanning in the extending direction and the sub-scanning in the width direction. After completion of printing of the image B, printing of the mark C is executed while feeding the continuous paper A in the extending direction, keeping the ink jet head 22 in an immovable condition.
