PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a switching element for electric current control which conventionally gets large because the switching element controls both electric current of a pull-in coil and a holding coil of a magnet switch. SOLUTION: A switching element 6 for switching electric current only to the pull-in coil 2c is arranged in an energizing circuit for the pull-in coil 2c. The switching element 6 is controlled by a control device 7 to be turned on when a key switch is turned on and to be turned off when a normally open contact 2a of the magnet switch is turned on. Since the switching element 6 controls electric current only to the pull-in coil 2c, it can be reduced in size (volume) comparing to a conventional one. Also, even if counter-electromotive force is generated at a starter motor 1, the counter-electromotive force is not transferred to the control device 7 through the pull-in coil 2c to cause a malfunction of the control device 7 since the switching element 6 is turned off. When the magnet switch 2 and the starter relay 4 are turned off, since an energizing circuit from the starter motor 1 side to the pull-in coil 2c is shut off by turning the switching element 6 off, generation of surge electric current can be controlled and generation of noise can be suppressed.
