PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily set gravitational acceleration or a correction factor for gravitational acceleration corresponding to the installation location of a weighing instrument. SOLUTION: A weighing part 2 generates a weighing signal expressing the weight of an article to be weighed. A CPU 6 corrects the weighing signal into a mass signal by using the value of gravitational acceleration in a use area of the weighing instrument, or by using a correction factor for gravitational acceleration for correcting the weighing signal correspondently to this. A search memory 14 stores therein the values of gravitational acceleration or correction factor for gravitational acceleration in various areas associated with the use areas of the weighing instrument. When a desired one is selected from the use areas by a key part 16, the CPU 6 reads out gravitational acceleration or a correction factor for gravitational acceleration corresponding to the selected use area from the memory 14 and uses it for the correction. Various use areas are expressed by the postal codes.
