PURPOSE: A credit card approval system and checking terminal is provided to transmit signature data with payment data by using a signature input device so that it is unnecessary for a VAN(Value Added Network) company to collect payment slips. CONSTITUTION: The terminal comprises a main board(1), a printer(3), and a pin pad(2). The main board(1) enables an operator of an affiliated store to input a credit card number, an effective period, a transaction date, and a transaction amount. The printer(3), connected to the main board(1), prints payment specifications on a slip. The pin pad(2) includes a pin(2-1) and a signature input device. The pin(2-1) and the signature input device enable a customer to input a secret number of a credit card and a signature on a touch screen, respectively. The operator of the affiliates store swipes the credit card of the customer in a magnetic stripe card reading unit of the main board while holding the credit card checking terminal with one hand, inputs an installment month, a sale amount and others in a state of accessing the VAN system, allows the customer to input a secret number of the card and a signature at the pin pad, transmits the input data to the VAN system for a transaction approval, and receives a transaction approval number. The VAN system stores the input data with the signature, and transmits a purchase request to a credit card company or a bank for making the credit card company or the bank remit the transaction amount to an account of the affiliated store. The printer(3) prints the approval number, the input data and the signature on a slip.
