PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting device for winding and removing a large elastic plate by which a large elastic plate of a heavy and large size can be wound on a plate cylinder of printing roll and removed from it with labor- saving. SOLUTION: The supporting device comprises a base plate 9 above a printing roll 14, a revolving arm part 6 attached to the base plate 9, a retainer part 7 attached to the other edge of the revolving arm part 6 for retaining a first plate holder 2 of the large elastic plate 1 and a drive part for controlling the revolution of the revolving arm part 6. When the large elastic plate 1 is to be wound on the printing roll 14, the retainer part 7 is made to approach the plate cylinder of the printing roll 14 while the other edge of the revolving arm part 6 moves downward in revolving nearly synchronously with the revolution of the printing roll 14 in keeping the tension imposed on the large elastic plate 1 constant. When the large elastic plate 1 is to be removed, the retainer part 7 can be separated from the plate cylinder of the printing roll 14 while the other edge of the revolving arm part 6 moves upward in revolving nearly synchronously with the revolution of the printing roll 14.
