The system is for use with hydrostatic gears and produces the control signal for the gears from the pressure drop at a constriction. The pressure drop (and therefore the resulting control signal) is independent of the viscosity of the pumped and therefore of the temp. at which the system is operating. The pump's (1) outlet line (13) is connected to the pump via two parallel paths (4,10). The first path contains a first constriction (6). The second path contains a second constriction (9) and a third constriction (11). The third constriction's resistance depends strongly on the viscosity of the liq. and consists of a hole whose length is a large multiple of its dia. The pressure drop is measured (16) across the second constriction. By an appropriate choice of the resistances of the constrictions, the measured pressure drop can be made independent of viscosity. The control signal produced is proportional to the pump's speed.
|
