The invention relates to a method for adjusting the position of land vehicles using support points of a digital road map. A route-specific plan with a reduced data size is evaluated as digital road map, said plan having trajectory points for representing road geometry and decision points for representing intersections for route alternatives. The thickness of the trajectory points is such that timely driver reaction before reaching the decision points is enabled at possible maximum driving speed and normal reaction time.
